Social-Medical Point.
Ostrov began working with children and teenagers at risk in 1996. It provides first aid,
social, psychological and educational support to children and teenagers lacking adult care

The C9S Children's Club
Our new project for the children from underprivileged
and low-income families in theTsentralny District offers them an interesting program of
leisure activities, and the chance to learn skills to enable them to seek work.
Workshops where they produce or manufacture clothes, household items and decorative
objects. A design studio where they select articles, drawings and designs to produce
a children's newspaper. Computing courses covering Programming and PC Usage to
educate children aged 11-16 in information technology. English classes are held so
that children can learn basic English in lively and cheerful surroundings from a
German volunteer doing his internship.
9th Soviet Street, 39/24
Our conceptual
approach to running these projects is based on the following criteria:
Working with the entire spectrum of family and childhood problems - from arranging
free-time activities and job advice schemes; through drug awareness programmes; ensuring
the observance of children's and teenagers' rights; to work aimed at progress in
problem solving and in uniting these spheres.
Establishing innovative pilot projects; gathering information and setting up a
methodological database; processing and systemising the collated information;
dissemination of methods and approaches on the basis of any experience gained, with the
aim of introducing these into State structures.
